1 Killed, 1 Injured In Motorcycle Crash

MotorcycleAccident17

Sometimes multiple motorcyclists like to ride together on the roadways. Riding with friends can be a lot more exciting than hitting the open road alone. This can be a fun way to travel from place to place.

However, when riding motorcycles, sometimes people don’t focus on safety. They get distracted, lose control, and hit another motorcycle or other object, causing a fatal crash.

Unfortunately, this recently happened in Osceola County. Two motorcycles were involved in a crash, killing one person and injuring another. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of April 10 in St. Cloud.

Two motorcyclists were riding motorcycles when they collided with each other near Hickory Tree Road and Chaplin Road. One rider had lost control of his Kawasaki motorcycle and hit the other motorcycle, a Yamaha, as well as a tree and a fence.

The rider who caused the crash, a 48-year-old man from St. Cloud, died at the accident scene. The other motorcyclist, a 29-year-old man from St. Cloud, suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital for medical treatment. Neither man was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Motorcycles and Loss of Control

When a motorcycle loses control, the results can be disastrous. Even though motorcycles are small vehicles, they can cause a lot of damage to the rider and others on the roadway.

Loss of control can happen for many reasons. Speed is the most common factor. Going too fast reduces reaction time and makes it harder to slow down when dangers appear on the roadways. There is not enough time to quickly maneuver, which means the smallest miscalculation can cause a rider to lose control and crash.

Inexperience is another factor to consider. Riding a motorcycle is much different than driving a car or truck. When riding a motorcycle, balance is critical. Making a turn is different. So is braking. Braking while turning can throw the rider off balance and cause a serious crash.

Road hazards can also cause a motorcycle rider to lose control. Potholes, uneven roads, and road debris can cause a motorcycle to lose control and crash or go off the road.

Losing control of a motorcycle can cause various consequences. You could seriously injure or kill yourself or others. Motorcycle crashes often result in severe injuries. If you do survive, you could suffer from painful, debilitating injuries. You may have broken bones, back and neck injuries, amputations, and permanent disabilities.
