1 Killed, 1 Injured In Multi-Vehicle Crash

A recent rear-end accident in Kissimmee left one person dead and another critically injured. The fatal crash happened on the morning of October 7 on Interstate 4 at mile marker 59.

A Kia Sportage, a Subaru WRX, and a Jeep Wrangler were all involved in the crash. It all happened when a Kia Sportage was traveling in the eastbound lanes, south of State Road 429. There was a Subaru traveling behind the Kia. The driver of the Subaru was not paying attention and did not see the Sportage ahead, causing the driver to rear-end it.

The impact forced the Subaru off the left side of the road. It then traveled onto the median before it collided with the center guardrail. The Sportage rotated clockwise before coming to a stop. It ended up disabled across the center and outside lanes.

A Jeep Wrangler approached the Sportage, but didn’t see it stopped in the roadway. The Jeep collided with the driver side of the Sportage. The driver of the Sportage, a 65-year-old woman from Lutz, was taken to Celebration Hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the Subaru was not injured. They remained at the accident scene to talk to Florida Highway Patrol troopers. The driver of the Jeep suffered minor injuries and was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center. A passenger in the Jeep suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 4 were shut down for several hours at Osceola Polk Line Road as police investigated the accident. The crash is still under investigation.
