1 Killed, 2 Injured In Solo-Vehicle Crash Involving Speed, Impairment

This is what a Florida woman did. She is being accused of speeding and impaired driving after crashing and killing a woman and injuring the woman’s two children.

The fatal accident occurred on the evening of July 20 on North Ridge Trail in Davenport. A Nissan sedan was speeding when it went off the road at a 90-degree corner. The car went over a guardrail and through a fence before hitting a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

There were four people inside the vehicle. A 39-year-old woman from Jacksonville was ejected from the car. She died at the accident scene. Her two children, a 15-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy, were both injured in the crash. They were taken to a local hospital, where they are currently in stable condition.

The driver of the car, identified as a 36-year-old woman from Orlando, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for facial fractures, according to officials. The woman allegedly showed signs of impairment, so a sample of her blood was obtained for testing.

The crash remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Investigations. Criminal charges are expected. North Ridge Trail was closed for about five hours while detectives worked at the accident scene.
